If your withdrawal request is canceled due to a negative currency balance, it means that while your main account (base currency) shows a positive balance, you owe money in another currency. For example, if your account is in U.S. dollars (USD) but you've traded in euros (EUR), you might have a negative EUR balance even if your USD balance is positive.
Why Does This Happen?
AMP Futures supports multi-currency accounts. When you trade in markets that settle in a different currency than your base currency, it's possible to incur losses (or gains) in that other currency. If these trades result in a negative balance in the foreign currency, this needs to be addressed before processing withdrawals. Explanation of Multi-Currency Accounts
How to Resolve a Negative Currency Balance:
-
Check Your Account Balances:
- Via Account Statement: Log in to your AMP Client Portal and view your account statement to see balances in different currencies. Where in the AMP Client Portal can I see my balance?
- During Withdrawal Request: On the withdrawal request page, your currency balances are displayed on the right side.
-
Convert Funds to Cover the Negative Balance:
- If you have a negative balance in a foreign currency, you'll need to convert some of your positive balance from your base currency to cover this deficit.
- Submit a currency conversion request through your AMP Client Portal. Detailed steps can be found here: Steps to process Foreign Currency Conversion
Important Note:
Withdrawal requests cannot be processed until all negative currency balances are cleared. Ensure you regularly monitor your account and address any negative balances promptly to avoid delays in future withdrawal requests.
